Sasha Grey was the industry's great intellectual provocation of the 2000s: she arrived at 18 quoting French cinema, won AVN's top award at 19, and left completely at 23 to star in Steven Soderbergh's The Girlfriend Experience and HBO's Entourage.
Her post-industry career — novels, DJ sets, voice acting, a big streaming audience — made her the template every "crossover" star since has been measured against. Few have come close.
